Barzon and Saccani remain under house arrest

In the Benko-Hager case, the Bolzano journalist Lorenzo Barzon and the Bolzano architect Andrea Saccani remain under house arrest. Both yesterday were heard by examining magistrate Enrico Borrelli. Today announced his decision.

Accordingly, house arrest for the two of them remains in effect for the time being. Barzon testified before the examining magistrate for more than an hour yesterday. He emphasized that he had no close relationship with Heinz Peter Hager, but that it was just a normal employment relationship in which he was a service provider.

The other two defendants heard yesterday, the entrepreneur Paolo Signoretti and the former senator Vittorio Fravezzi, initially refused to testify. Signoretti's lawyers announced in Trento that they would request that their clients' house arrest be lifted.

A decision on Heinz Peter Hager's house arrest will be made on Thursday.

The judiciary is investigating Hager and seven other suspects in connection with a series of real estate transactions. They are accused of forming a criminal organization.
