Police Grand-Ducale: Car theft and burglaries keep the police on their toes

On Thursday morning, the Belgian police reported a vehicle stolen in Belgium that was traveling from Arlon towards Luxembourg, the Grand-Ducale Police wrote in a press release on Friday. The officers were able to spot and track the vehicle on the A6 towards Luxembourg.

“The vehicle was able to be stopped at the Mamer/Capellen exit. “During the check, however, the driver drove over a road barrier and continued to flee,” said the police. A short time later, the vehicle was found driverless and the search for the perpetrator has so far been negative. On the orders of the public prosecutor, the car was seized and further investigations were initiated.

Several break-ins and attempted break-ins have also been reported to the police in the last few hours. According to officials, on the night of December 12th, a garage door was broken on Rue du 9 Mai in Luxembourg-Howald and several bicycles were stolen. Later in the afternoon, a perpetrator attempted to break in when he tried to break into a single-family home on Rue de la Corniche in Itzig. The residents were able to disturb the burglar, who then fled. The same thing happened to a burglar on the same evening in Differdange on An der Gewannchen Street.
