When the robot wants more than just to serve: Megan Fox in the German trailer for the sci-fi thriller “Subservience” – Kino News

In the trailer, “Subservience” looks like a clever mix of AI puppet horror à la “M3GAN” and the 1990 psychological thriller “The Hand on the Cradle.” Are you getting the science fiction title from the “Till Death” maker in your home theater?

“Subservience” presents us with the “Brave New World” that is typical of sci-fi dystopias in the vein of “Black Mirror,” “The Outer Limits” or the classic “Twilight Zone,” and which seems perfect at first glance. Only to show us the dark side. But yes, who among us couldn't use a household robot that cleans, cooks the food, does the laundry and also looks after the children? Then you would have a lot more time to watch films, right?

But of course there is a catch. A huge one, in fact, as the trailer for SK Dale's new film (“Till Death”), shown above, clearly suggests. You'll soon be able to enjoy how it all ends from the comfort of your own sofa. Because “Submissiveness“ will be released on January 16, 2025 with an FSK 16 rating on Blu-ray and DVD.

In the other roles alongside “Transformers” star Megan Fox, you can expect Michele Morrone, Madeline Zima (“Californication”) and young actress Matilda Firth, who are very familiar with erotic scenarios thanks to their appearances in the “365 Days” series on Netflix. You might have already seen the young Brit in “Bewitched Again” on Disney+, among other things. In January 2025 she will be able to see the eagerly awaited “Wolf Man” in cinemas.

“Subservience”: That’s the story

Family man Nick (Morrone) is severely stressed. As a foreman on a large construction project, he actually has enough on his plate. But then his beloved wife Maggie (Zima) has to be hospitalized with heart problems to wait for a transplant. So Nick suddenly not only has to manage his job and take care of his wife, but also has to look after their children, seven-year-old Isla (Firth) and the infant Max (Jude Greenstein).

He urgently needs help, Nick realizes that. When the small island meets Alice (Fox), a lifelike-looking household helper robot equipped with artificial intelligence, while shopping, the decision is not difficult for him and he orders such a model. At first everything goes as planned, but then Alice begins to circumvent her programming on her own in order to be able to serve her new masters even more effectively. She noticed that he missed being close to a woman…
