This is what “The Black Phone” is about
In 1978, a serial killer is on the loose. “The Grabber” (Ethan Hawke) always acts according to the same pattern: He kidnaps children on the street, holds them captive for a while and then kills them. Outsider Finney (Mason Thames) is also kidnapped and finds himself in a cellar. Escape seems hopeless, but through a broken black phone he receives valuable tips from the deceased boys who were in this basement before him. You can find out today in the free TV premiere or in the stream whether he manages to escape and how his sister (Madeleine McGraw), who has clairvoyant abilities, helps the police.
“The Black Phone”: More stories by Joe Hill
Before “The Black Phone” was made into a film, several of Joe Hill’s other stories had already made it to the screen. We'll show you some:
- “Horns”: His novel “Teufelszeug” was made into a film as “Horns” in 2013. In the horror drama, “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe is said to have killed his girlfriend. He grows hearing aids and acquires supernatural abilities that will enable him to unmask the real murderer. You can find the film to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video.
- “Locke & Key”: The mystery horror television series is based on the comics of the same name by Joe Hill. The series is about the three Locke siblings who find magical keys in the Key House that give them abilities and open a door to another world. But dangers lurk everywhere. You can find all three seasons on Netflix.
- “In the Tall Grass”: The short story, which is available in the original English as an e-book, was written together with Stephen King. In an abandoned field, two siblings get lost in the tall grass between space and time. You have to figure out a way before it's too late. You can watch the horror thriller on Netflix.
