Dennis Schröder changed clubs again. After almost a year, the playmaker is leaving the Nets – and will play alongside an NBA superstar in the future.
Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder will soon be playing alongside NBA superstar Stephen Curry. According to a report from US broadcaster ESPN, the 31-year-old playmaker's move from the Brooklyn Nets to the Golden State Warriors with Curry is imminent.
Schröder should therefore be swapped for De'Anthony Melton in a so-called trade and will in future play on the West coast instead of the current East Coast. There has been no confirmation from the clubs yet.
For Schröder, this will be the eighth different stop in the North American professional league after Atlanta, Oklahoma City, the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston, Houston, Toronto and Brooklyn. The Braunschweig native, who has had a strong season so far, has been one of the Nets' leading players in recent weeks and, according to his own statements, surprised himself with the New York team.
Schröder could play a Currys side from the start
Schröder is likely to play a somewhat smaller role in terms of sport for the seven-time champions from San Francisco. But the national team captain has better prospects of sporting success with the team. There are still two key players from the previous championship years in three-point specialist Curry and all-rounder Draymond Green.
Schröder could start alongside Curry or return to his role as a valuable bench player with a lot of play. It was only in the summer that Klay Thompson, who served as Curry's partner for years, left the club for the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors are on course for the playoffs after the first third of the season.
