German Mallorca holidaymaker wanted – rape accusation

A German holidaymaker who is said to have raped a British woman on the official holiday island of Mallorca in 2017 is wanted internationally after missing several court dates. The regional court in Palma issued an arrest warrant on Monday after the now 27-year-old missed another trial date, as the island newspapers “Diario de Mallorca” and “Última hora” report.

The then 19-year-old was traveling with a friend in the party hotspot Magaluf, south of the island's capital Palma, which is popular with British holidaymakers. There the Germans are supposed to talk to two British women. In one moment, the now accused is said to have brutally pulled one of the women towards her and sexually assaulted her. When the victim fought back, the vacationer is said to have hit her.

The Spanish police arrested him after a complaint from the British woman, and an examining judge released the German shortly afterwards. The public prosecutor's office is demanding eight years in prison for rape. The man is also supposed to compensate the woman with 6,000 euros. The search and arrest warrant from the regional court in Palma is valid internationally.
