12-year-old girl appears in court on manslaughter charges in death of 80-year-old man | British News

A 12-year-old girl has appeared in court charged with manslaughter following the death of her 80-year-old grandfather.

Bhim Kohli died due to serious injuries sustained while walking his dog in Franklin Park near his home in Braunstone Town. Leicestershireon September 1st.

He died the next day at Queen's Medical Center in Nottingham.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Leicester Youth Court sitting at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday.

After a short hearing, the accused was granted bail.

She was also ordered to appear at the city's crown court on February 3.

A 15-year-old boy has already been charged with Mr Kohli's murder.

He is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court later this week.

According to an inquest launched last month and postponed, the trial in the case is due to begin in February next year.

After Mr. Kohli's death, his family said in a statement: “Bhim was a loving husband, father and grandpa.”

“He was also a son, brother and uncle.

“He adored his grandchildren with all his heart and loved spending time with them.

“He truly was such a loving, caring person whose life revolved around his family.”
