We don't want to see any more in 2025: The worst trends of the year

There are fashion trends that come quickly and then disappear just as quickly. The fashion trends of 2024 were particularly bad – we definitely don't want to see these again in 2025.

Some of this year's fashion trends were definitely an experience – if you want to use “experience” as a synonym for “What the hell were we thinking?” From combinations that looked more like the “Hannah Montana” movie set to the “creative” shoes that make you wonder if the design came from a nightmare or a bad order. We've fought through these disasters like it was survival training, but honestly, 2025 can do without these fashion trends.

We don't want to see these fashion trends anymore in 2025

1. Crocodiles

Dear fashionistas, of course, fashion can do anything, but sometimes Crocs – aka garden shoes – should stay in the garden, even if Balenciaga thinks it has to have fun with it. And just by the way: Crocs don't look any better with a platform. If you think the futuristic shape makes the shoe artistic – well, that may be true, but that's about it.

2. Hipsters

Hipsters are the collective trauma of an entire generation. Millennials had to struggle through this fashion trend in the 2000s – low-slung, uncomfortable and unforgiving. And now they're making a comeback? Hipsters were less a piece of clothing and more a daily battle – against gravity, against uncomfortable cuts and, above all, against the constant fear of involuntarily showing more skin than was a love. They may evoke nostalgic feelings for some, but the reality was anything but glamorous. Instead of celebrating a fashion revival, it would be better to serve as a reminder of bad fashion decisions.

3. The improvised hipsters

If there were no hipsters at hand, the waistband was folded up with a short hand – the main thing was to give the belly button its place. You might think this “emergency solution” was some kind of rebellious DIY fad, but no, it looked more like you just couldn’t get the button to work. Functional? Zero. Comfortable? Certainly not. Why? Good question.

3. Adidas Sambas

Sneakers are without question the shoe trend of the year – and yes, they look good, but you just can't escape them. No matter where you look, they are everywhere. It's slowly enough! We develop serious paranoia. Is there still an outfit that isn't combined with these omnipresent kicks? Maybe you should take a break next year – we wouldn't mind.

4. Skirt over pants

We thought we were long past the “Hannah Montana” and “Ashley Tisdale on the red carpet” phase. But apparently not. Why choose between a skirt and pants when you can just wear both? The idea may sound bold, but in practice it usually looks like you got dressed in the dark. Nostalgia or not, this look definitely belongs in 2005 – and that's where it should stay.

Many fashion traumas have been reactivated. We were hoping and praying that it wouldn't happen, but Juicy Couture has actually managed to rise from obscurity. Some things should just stay in the 2000s – like velvet tracksuits with giant logos.
