Consultant found guilty of murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee

Nima Momeni has been found guilty of second-degree murder in connection with the death of well-known fintech personality Bob Lee. Momeni, an IT consultant and entrepreneur, faces 16 years to life in prison. Lee, best known as the creator and founder of Cash App, was fatally stabbed in San Francisco in April 2023. Nine days later, Momeni was arrested as a suspect.

The autopsy report revealed that Lee was under the influence of cocaine, alcohol and ketamine at the time of his death. He had been in the company of Momeni and his sister Khazar Momeni that evening. Prosecutors argued that Mr. Momeni attacked Lee on the street after he discovered that one of Lee's associates had drugged and assaulted Ms. Momeni. Momeni's legal team said he acted in self-defense and was unaware that Lee had been injured in their altercation.

Most recently, Lee was chief product officer for cryptocurrency operation MobileCoin. He previously held a leadership position at Square and helped develop the Android mobile operating system at Google.
