For the second time in less than a week, Ithaca police are investigating an alleged attack as a possible hate crime.
Shortly after midnight Saturday morning, officers were called to the 200 block of East Aurora Street in the Commons regarding an argument. Two victims reported to police that they were physically assaulted by four people and fled the area. The suspects were described as two black men and two white men. One of the black men was wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants, and the other black man was wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt. One of the white men was reportedly wearing tan pants and a gray shirt, and the other white man was wearing gray pants and a gray shirt. During the alleged attack, the suspects reportedly made derogatory remarks about the victim's ethnicity.
An attack that occurred in Ithaca the previous weekend is being investigated as a possible hate crime after the suspect allegedly made derogatory remarks about the victim's gender identity.
