Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis will star in a TV adaptation of the crime novel Murder Before Evensong.
The 35-year-old British TV and film star will play Kanon Daniel Clement, headmaster of Champton, in the series, which is based on the first crime novel by Rev Richard Coles, formerly of pop duo The Communards.
A post on Channel 5's social media pages said on Thursday: “Matthew Lewis will star in the brand new crime drama series Murder Before Evensong, based on the debut novel by Reverend Richard Coles (@revrichardcoles).
“Matthew (@mattdavelewis) will play Canon Daniel Clement, who lives in the Champton vicarage with his wayward mother Audrey.
“When Daniel announces the plan to install a toilet in the church, the congregation is suddenly (and unexpectedly) divided.
“As boundaries are drawn and long-buried secrets threaten the apparent peace of the village, events take a deadly turn.”
Author Coles, 62, wrote on X: “All hail Matthew Lewis!
“He roasted the Dark Lord's snake in the Deathly Hallows…He was bound by Catherine in Happy Valley…
“AND HE PLAYS CANON DANIEL CLEMENT IN THE TV ADAPTATION OF MURDER BEFORE EVENSONG, coming soon to @channel5_tv thanks to @AcornTV.”
