Another day, another school shooting that has destroyed countless lives and left a community in ruins. This time it's Madison, Wisconsin. Tomorrow it could be our cities.
Efforts to curb the use of weapons designed and used to kill people are almost certain to face a major setback from the pro-gun administration that takes office next month, and there is no interest in doing so from Republicans Pennsylvania lawmakers want to make changes to lax gun laws. So the only effective defense to protect students is to increase security.
I don't understand why sports stadiums that hold tens of thousands of people can keep guns out, but we can't keep guns out of schools.
It will be costly to provide a strong layer of security in schools, but we have no choice. No student or parent should have to worry every day about whether their child will get home safely from school.
