I would urge new GLC owners to proactively contact their respective service advisors to have these software units updated!

New GLC 300 – software problems! (Owners are asked to update the software promptly)
A week ago, I was on a long drive with my family on a Sunday morning. We had parked the car on the highway for about 30 minutes for breakfast. After I finished breakfast, I unlocked the car and got in. I heard a long beep and then everything went black (nothing on MBUX, nothing on driver's dashboard etc). The car won't start either. I was worried as I was about 100 kms from Bangalore. So I called the service manager of Akhsaya Mortors' Hosur Road branch. He took my call immediately and tried to help me with a few things but nothing worked. He called back through WhatsApp video call along with an experienced technician and asked me to try a few more things. Nothing worked at that point too. He told me he would probably have to send a team of technicians to my place and check the car. About 10 to 15 minutes later, I opened the car to try again and like magic, everything worked and the car started again!
The service manager asked me to take the car to the service center and I returned to the service center and handed over the car; it was returned to me a few hours later after some software components were updated (see details below).
First of all, I would like to thank the team at Mercedes-Benz service center at Akshaya Motors for their quick response, that too on a Sunday!
The question is, did I buy a premium luxury car to feel safe and have top quality? I shudder to think what it would be like if I was stranded with my family in a remote area late at night and the car wouldn't start.
Since I was concerned about the quality of the brand new car manufactured in January 2024, I raised the issue with Mercedes and they gave me the following details about the software updates.
“In this regard, we have been informed that your vehicle has been reported to the authorized dealer M/s. Akshaya Motors, Hosur Road for not starting. Furthermore, we would like to inform you that the dealer has conducted a comprehensive inspection and diagnosis of your vehicle and found that a software update for the EZS Central Gateway & Door Control Unit is required to resolve the issue. We would like to inform you that all necessary remedial actions have been completed and your trident star has been returned to your good hands after confirming its optimum performance and roadworthy condition. We request you to drive your trident star with full passion.”
I hope that the problem is really solved and similar software errors do not occur again. I am really surprised that these software updates were not installed when the car was delivered and not even during the first service?
There is an active software update policy for all Mercedes Benz dealers worldwide. Please read the thread below, these types of software glitches especially for Mercedes Benz GLC are commonly reported in the US and the rest of the world (I really wish I had seen it before making my purchase decision).
