A double strike shortly before half-time paved the way for VSK Osterholz-Scharmbeck to win the derby against TuSG Ritterhude. In the end, the district town team left the pitch as deserved 3-0 (2-0) winners and thus maintained their lead in the Lüneburg 3 football district league.
After just 13 seconds, Dilges Bayrak could have, or should have, put the home team in the lead, but he put the ball past the goal after a dream pass from Louis Melzer. After this scene, the completely reorganized Ritterhude back four, in which right-back Philipp Brouwer and center-back Eugen Zilke had to help out as two regular offensive players, showed good order. Only Tim Bormann managed two halfway decent shots for the VSK, which largely dominated the game but was constantly put under pressure by a very committed visiting team. And the team of TuSG coach Sascha Steinbusch also kept on making pinpricks in attack.
Great chances for TuSG
After a strong one-two with Tobias Böttcher, Bonce Ciftci was stopped by a well-reacting Malte Vollstedt (9th minute). A header from Eugen Zilke after a free kick from Christian Barth was also just managed to be diverted over the bar by Vollstedt (36th minute). After 40 minutes, the otherwise strong VSK keeper was beaten when he misjudged an extremely high free kick from Janluca Grove and missed the ball. Tjerk Johannsen cleared the ball for his goalkeeper just before the line. Chris Hybsz put the resulting corner onto the crossbar.
“We actually had the better chances in the first half,” Steinbusch said, somewhat dismayed at the team's luck in the final stages, but otherwise gave his team high praise for the first half: “We did really well for 44 minutes.” And yet, when referee Marvin Hauschild blew the halftime whistle, the score was 0:2 from Ritterhude's perspective.
That was the killer for Ritterhude.
VSK coach Thorsten Westphal
In the 45th minute, Jan Brinkmann broke through on the left and Louis Melzer scored with a shot into the far corner. And 60 seconds later, the strong Dilges Bayrak scored after a brilliant pass from Christoph Oberschelp through the legs of TuSG keeper Nils Sievert to make it 2-0. “That was the killer for Ritterhude,” said VSK coach Thorsten Westphal after the party, adding: “We almost didn't need to play the second half at all.”
In fact, after the restart it seemed as if Steinbusch's eleven had largely resigned themselves to their fate. The Hammestadt team continued to fight back as best they could and were far from giving up, but they simply did not have enough quality to turn things around. Jan Brinkmann missed the chance to make it 3-0 (52'), as did Dilges Bayrak with a free kick from 17 meters (56') and Dean Leskow (62'). Then the third goal was scored.
Dilges Bayrak completed a wonderful one-two with the equally convincing Ilja Ryabko to make it 3-0 (63'). A short time later, Oberschelp aimed at the post, and a shot from Ryabko went just over the Ritterhude goal. On the other side, the visitors only had one real shot on goal, by Janluca Grove, which Malte Vollstedt deflected onto the post with a brilliant save (80'). The derby could have easily petered out if the referee hadn't caused a huge stir with various – sometimes incomprehensible – decisions. The unpleasant climax was a completely excessive sending off of Ilja Ryabko in the fourth minute of injury time (see adjacent article).
“The VSK victory was definitely okay in the end, but we deserved at least one goal here,” said Sascha Steinbuch in a sporting analysis by the party. Thorsten Westphal also spoke afterwards of his team's deserved success and praised above all his defense, which kept a clean sheet for the third time in a row.
