Germany is facing the elections, the economy is facing major challenges – and the conference market? “Conference organizers, hotels and locations must keep an eye on economic and social developments very carefully and react consistently,” says Reinhard Peter, conference expert and managing director of “TOP 250 Germany”, the association of the best conference hotels in Germany. “It will be important to closely monitor movements in individual sectors and to show courage by, if necessary, separating from less prosperous market areas and concentrating more on those that offer future success potential, such as the technology or pharmaceutical sectors. The industry expert names the five groundbreaking conference trends for 2025.
These 5 topics will affect the conference industry in 2025:
Trend 1: Potential for offsites increases. Remote work remains at the current level, which means that there will continue to be a great need for companies to bring employees together. Complete solutions from a single source, such as those currently offered by hotels, meet customer requirements even more.
Trend 2: Participatory events trending. The focus is on compact groups with larger space requirements for flexible formats. Pure knowledge transfer itself often takes place online; interaction and application are trained in participatory events.
Trend 3: Bleisure is gaining ground. Business and leisure offers in one offer companies attractive formats to score points, especially with participants. Conference hotels in particular should focus more on bleisure solutions in their offerings.
Trend 4: Customer contacts updated. The main task for 2025 will be updating the address databases of former customers and interested parties. After Corona, there is still a backlog of updates that needs to be solved in many areas of the conference market.
Trend 5: Meeting formats in marketing increase. In order to update these customer contacts, trade fairs, industry meetings and in-house customer events are being revitalized, newly interpreted platforms for the exchange of know-how and offers. Product advantages will have to be conveyed even better, especially in personal contact.
“2025 will be an exciting year for the ever-growing conference market,” says Peter. “It is worthwhile to continuously adapt your own offerings in conference hotels and locations throughout the year in order to be as close as possible to the requirements of prosperous industries.”
