Sculpture: 'Den Mörka Nattens Lejon' decoupled

The Swedish title of the SCALPTURE song “Den Mörka Nattens Lejon” means “The Lion of the Dark Night” in German and is the first release from the album “Landkrieg”. The German death metal band will release their long-players on March 7, 2025 on Testimony Records. You can pre-order them here.

As guitarist Tobias Aselmann explains, the song title “Den Mörka Nattens Lejon” refers to the former Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, one of the most important figures in the Thirty Years' War. “He was a famous advocate of Protestantism in the Thirty Years' War. And if you ask us after listening to the song if we like Morbid Angel, the answer is definitely yes!”

The entire album “Landkrieg” dealt with the Thirty Years' War, which raged in Germany from 1618 to 1648, when the imperial Catholic Habsburgs wanted to force all their subjects to accept the Catholic faith again after the Reformation.
