Once again no water flows through the taps in Söhrewald-Wellerode: After a sudden failure of the drinking water supply on Monday evening, the planned renovation of the defective pipe is now underway. The district still has to make do without drinking water.

Around twelve hours before a planned repair to a central water pipe for the district, the drinking water supply failed in Söhrewald-Wellerode (Kassel) on Monday evening.
Until around 4:30 a.m., households in the Wellerode district had to go without drinking water due to a message from the MoWaS warning system. The reason: Shortly after 6 p.m. there was a defect in one of the drinking water transport pipes that was supposed to be renovated on Tuesday morning.
Temporary repairs at night
During the night, the emergency services initially temporarily repaired the main water supply line for the district. Since Tuesday morning, however, the approximately 2,600 residents have been left high and dry again: the scheduled repair of the water pipe for Wellerode has been underway since 7 a.m.
Since then, the drinking water supply in Wellerode has failed. The city provides information on its website About it. Faucets should not be used during this time, nor should the toilets, washing machines or dishwashers be flushed.
The city advised in advance that residents should ensure there is sufficient supply of drinking water in their households, for example by filling the bathtub. But in the evening the drinking water supply failed earlier than planned.
The fire department hopes that citizens can prepare early
The fire brigade hoped that the people in Wellerode had already prepared.
After the “accident” on the main drinking water supply line, there were already loudspeaker announcements and a message via warning apps, said the community fire inspector from the Söhrewald fire department.
80 firefighters worked together with specialist companies during the night to temporarily repair the water pipe and ensure there was enough water to extinguish the fire in the event of a fire in the area.
