The G-Shock Urban Utility series from Casio is now available in the USA. The new watches are robust yet elegant timepieces that focus on practical use in the city (hence the name “Urban Utility”) and conscious, environmentally conscious design. Two models – the GA-B2100LUU-5A and the GA-B2100LUU-8A – in this series are now available on Casio's US website.
Casio's GA-B2100LUU models combine bio-based resin construction with solar-powered timekeeping and Bluetooth connectivity. These watches are designed for durability and versatility while supporting environmentally friendly manufacturing practices. Features like durability, water resistance to 200 meters and Super Illuminator LED light are also present.
Both models feature subtle, neutral tones that should fit well into a streetwear aesthetic. The GA-B2100LUU-5A is finished in olive green, while the GA-B2100LUU-8A has a blue-gray finish. The design with a dual layer bezel and carbon core structure adds to both the style and robustness of the new Casio watches. In addition, the Urban Utility G-Shock series offers smartphone connection via the Casio Watches app, which enables functions such as automatic time setting, reminders and phone location.
The Super Illuminator LED with high luminosity ensures that the display is easy to read even in poor lighting conditions, while the solar-powered Tough Solar System extends the watch's battery life. The GA-B2100LUU-5A and GA-B2100LUU-8A models have the typical G-Shock functions such as world time for 38 cities, countdown timer, daily alarm and stopwatch.
While the G-Shock Urban Utility series originally debuted in Japan, the market launch in the USA is now beginning with the GA-B2100LUU-5A and the GA-B2100LUU-8A, each costing around 170 US dollars (the equivalent of around 160 euros). The other two models in the Urban Utility series, the DW-5610UU-3 and the DW-5610UU-8, will probably also soon be available on the Casio website in the USA.
