Kimberly Guilfoyle is a prominent figure on the American right and campaigned powerfully for Donald Trump. She is also Don Jr.'s fiancée – or at least was until recently, according to US media reports. Now Guilfoyle gets a post out of the country.

US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle as US ambassador to Greece. The 55-year-old also came into the spotlight as the fiancée of Trump's eldest son Don Jr. US media reports that the two have recently separated. Guilfoyle is a prominent figure on the American right and campaigned for Trump in the election campaign.

Donald Jr. Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle's separation has not yet been officially confirmed, but it seems only a matter of time.

Trump described Guilfoyle as a “close friend and ally for many years” with a sharp mind and extensive experience in law, media and politics. The lawyer previously worked as a prosecutor in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She has already been married twice, including in the early 2000s to Democrat Gavin Newsom, who was then mayor of San Francisco and is now one of the most prominent figures in his party as governor of the state of California.

Trump has already taken everyone from his family circle into account in his nominations. He chose Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, for the post of US ambassador to France. Massad Boulos, his daughter Tiffany's father-in-law, is expected to advise the future president on issues relating to the Middle East and the Arab region.

An FTC chief and two ambassadors

In addition to Guilfoyle, Trump has announced a number of other nominations. Andrew Ferguson, one of the five commissioners of the US Trade Commission FTC, is expected to lead the agency in Trump's second term. Ron Johnson is to become ambassador to Mexico and investor Tom Barrack is to become ambassador to Turkey.

Regarding Ferguson's nomination as chairman of the US Trade Commission, Trump wrote on his website Truth Social: “Andrew has proven that he stands up to Big Tech censorship and protects free speech in our great country.” He will be “the most American-friendly and innovation-friendly FTC -Be the leader in the history of our country”.

Investor Tom Barrack, nominated as ambassador to Turkey, is, according to Trump, “a respected and experienced voice of reason.” He met Trump in the 1980s when he helped him buy the famous Plaza Hotel. The financier was accused of using his personal access to the former president to secretly promote the interests of the United Arab Emirates. He was acquitted on all charges in a federal trial in 2022.

Ron Johnson served as ambassador to El Salvador during Trump's first term. He is a US Army veteran and has worked for the CIA. Relations between the USA and Mexico are tense in view of Trump's threatened import tariffs against the neighboring country. The ambassadorships must be approved by the US Senate.
