Delivery services continue to be booming, including in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Fast food remains popular
The online provider Lieferando evaluated data from around 16 million consumers across Germany and supplemented it with a YouGov survey. The result is a report that shows the Germans' capabilities in ordering services. Above all, awareness of healthy foods has increased. For example, demand for organic products has increased by 37 percent this year.
However, the most popular product remains fast food at its best: the cheeseburger will be the favorite of ordering customers in 2024, both nationwide and in MV. The most frequently ordered side dish goes perfectly with it: fries. And the top drink also makes you think of a meal for the junk food soul rather than a healthy Ayurvedic meal. Coca-Cola is the most popular, ahead of Fanta and Sprite.
Italian cuisine is at the top nationwide
However, the very American orientation of the individual products ordered is not reflected in the overall ranking. Pasta, pizza and other favorites of Italian cuisine will continue to dominate the market in 2024.
They are considered the most popular cuisine in every federal state. However, there are deviations among the newcomers. According to the Lieferando report, Arabic cuisine is enjoying increasing popularity in MV.
The MV residents' favorite meal remains lunch. 41 percent said lunch was their favorite. In contrast, breakfast orders in Schwerin, for example, only make up 2 percent of all orders.
Chocolate is always possible in MV
A piquant detail of the report also shows that the focus in MV is on enjoyment rather than counting calories. 21 percent in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania said they like to eat chocolate before going to bed. In a national comparison, MV, together with Schleswig-Holstein (29 percent), has by far the highest value.
