The police received several emergency calls: a cash-in-transit truck was robbed in Charlottenburg this morning.
There is currently a major police operation in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The authorities were alerted by several emergency calls on Kantstrasse in the morning, according to the police on the short message service
At least two masked suspects shot at the passenger side of the cash-in-transit vehicle. However, the projectile did not penetrate the window, the spokesman continued. According to police, the men drove up to the bank in their car and passed the van as money was being unloaded. They were then also in the bank. According to the police, the bank employees immediately raised an alarm. Ultimately there was no such thing, but an employee at the bank was in shock and required treatment.
According to the police spokesman, the suspects stole cash boxes. A spokesman could not give an exact number. The unknown suspects are said to have fled the crime scene in a dark Mercedes-Benz towards the zoological garden. They are then said to have switched to a silver BMW 3 Series.
According to the fire department, a fire broke out in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene around 11 a.m. – also shortly after the crime on Kantstrasse. There was a fire in an underground car park on Durlacher Strasse. According to a police spokesman, they could neither confirm nor deny whether there was a connection to the robbery of the cash-in-transit truck. This has been checked.
The police are asking citizens to send any photos and videos of the incident as well as any relevant information to the police. The authority has set up a information portal for this purpose. The authorities are investigating aggravated robbery and suspicion of attempted murder.
The area around the cash-in-transit truck was cordoned off, according to several reporters on site. Kantstrasse is closed between Krummen Strasse and Leibnizstrasse, so the police continue. “Please avoid the area,” the authority said.
