With Fritz!OS 8, AVM has released a major update for some of its Fritz!Boxes. Others instead continue to wait for the update. Now AVM is revealing which devices it will soon receive.
In September, AVM started the rollout of Fritz!OS 8.0. This brings with it around 60 innovations. So far, some, but not all, models scheduled for the update have already received the update. According to AVM, it is currently available for the FRITZ!Box 5590, 5530 Fiber, 7590 AX, 7590, 7583, 7583 VDSL, 7530 AX, 7530, 7520, 7510, 6690, 6670, 6660, 6591 Cable and the FRITZ!Box 4040 available.
The models Fritz!Box 5690 Pro, Fritz!Box 7690, Fritz!Box 4060, Fritz!Box 4050 as well as the Fritz!Box 6850 5G and the Fritz!Box 6850 LTE should also receive the update shortly. A preview of the big update is already available for download in the form of a so-called Fritz!Labor version.
New laboratory update for the Fritz!Box 5690 Pro
Although these have the version number “7.90”, they already contain the new functions. This includes, among other things, the “Online Monitor” tool, which you can use to monitor the load on your network.
If you want to try out the new features, you can install the corresponding laboratory updates. Please note, however, that these can of course still contain errors. For example, the following problems were solved in the latest laboratory update for the Fritz!Box 5690 Pro, which was released on December 11th:
- The preferred user for pre-assigning the login on the FRITZ!Box for MyFRITZ! Internet access was not transmitted to MyFRITZ!Net
- Changes to the device name of a home network device were not transferred to MyFRITZ!Net
- After changing the SSID on the mesh master, the WLAN guest access to mesh clients connected via LAN in the 5 GHz and 6 GHz band can no longer be used
- Fixed issues roaming individual Wi-Fi 7 devices with MLO functionality
AVM may also skip the update to Fritz!OS 8 for the models and distribute Fritz!OS 8.01 instead.
