The woman lived in Fresno with her boyfriend Andrew S. (18) and their children (eight months and two and a half years old). Officers found her there with a gunshot wound to her upper body. However, Jessinya M. still came to the Community Regional Medical Center.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the woman's boyfriend left his loaded 9mm handgun in the bedroom. “As the toddler was handling the weapon, he was able to pull the trigger, which resulted in M. being shot,” said the police.
Andrew S. was arrested. After questioning, he was taken to the Fresno County Jail. According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old was shot as she lay in bed. The firearm was confiscated as evidence.
Mother didn't want a gun in the house
Now the victim's sister has also spoken out and described Jessinya M., among other things, as “loving and caring”. At the same time, she made it clear to Action News in the statement that her sister didn't want a gun in the house. “Now she is gone forever because of her boyfriend's carelessness, his arrogance, his irresponsibility and his disregard for my sister's wish to never have a gun in her home.”
A fundraising campaign was launched on “Gofundme”. It says: “You were 22 years old, full of love and life and a wonderful mother of a two-year-old son and a seven-month-old daughter.”
