An activist is said to have tried to have a lenient sentence become legally binding. She is also said to have spoken of bribery.
The climate activist Lilli Gomez is said to have tried to influence a verdict against her and is also said to have spoken of bribery. This was the reason for a search of her apartment in the Westend district of Berlin on Wednesday morning, as “Bild” reports. Police are said to have confiscated a cell phone as evidence.
Gomez is said to have written to the former president of the Tiergarten district court on August 6th to ensure that a lenient sentence against her from July 25th becomes legally binding. She is said to have claimed to have handed over 25,000 euros to the judge's husband and to have threatened to leak this to the media. However, according to the police, this bribery attempt is fictitious.
Just a few days ago, the 24-year-old was sentenced to seven months in prison without parole for a paint attack on a private jet on Sylt. On Tuesday, she again blocked the Hotel Adlon in Berlin together with other climate activists, daubing the hotel's facade with green paint. Over 200 demonstrators were temporarily arrested by the police.
The recent events continue a series of actions in which Gomez and other activists have begun damaging property. Already in October 2023 they had to answer for a paint attack on the world clock at Alexanderplatz, which caused damage worth 16,000 euros.
