Food: Man calls for an Uber – I can't believe what happens shortly afterwards

Founded 15 years ago in San Francisco (USA), Uber is now expanding in Germany. No longer just in big cities like Berlin and Hamburg, but also in the Ruhr area, for example in Essen and Duisburg.

The current Uber figures show that people in the Ruhr area like to use online passenger transport services as an alternative to classic taxis. However, a user in Essen has now shot the bird.

Uber statistics from Essen and Duisburg are astonishing

On this day, Uber takes stock of the year 2024 – with exciting results. The Duisburg passengers are therefore particularly friendly. Nationwide, they come in second place among the friendliest cities in the driving service provider's ranking.

The most popular destinations in Duisburg in 2024 were the Villa Rheinperle, the CityPalais and the Rheinpark Duisburg. But as beautiful as many Duisburg residents find their home, some would rather leave. The longest Uber ride was 243 kilometers to Frankfurt am Main. Duration: 3 hours and 2 minutes.

847 trips – you've barely reached your destination before you move on

A passenger from Duisburg made an impressive 618 Uber trips in the past twelve months. But that's nothing compared to a man from Essen who can safely be described as an ultra-fan of Uber. It's hard to believe what he does after calling an Uber: he basically orders the next one straight away! There is no other explanation for the fact that passengers will already make 847 journeys in 2024. That's an average of 2.5 trips per day.

Speaking of food: The most popular Uber destinations in the quiet metropolis this year were the Essen trade fair, where, for example, the games fair (>>> more about that here) and most recently the “Essen Motor Show” (including the e-car dispute ) walked across the stage. Other top destinations were Grugapark and the Westend Club. But Essen residents also want to get out. The longest trip was to Karlsruhe, 362 km away and lasted 3 hours and 47 minutes.

Another fun fact from the German Uber community: Users from Munich most often forgot their belongings in the vehicles, followed by Cologne and Düsseldorf. Umbrellas, phones and clothes were often left behind, but there were also some strange things: an air fryer, a guitar, a litter box, an e-scooter – and a pregnancy test! There may have been a fellow passenger with her thoughts somewhere else entirely.
