HOXIE, Arkansas – Hoxie police provided information to NEA Report this week about a drunken driving arrest made Friday.
On Friday evening, Officer Zach Pollard was patrolling Highway 63 when he noticed a vehicle that appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed, the release said. Pollard activated his radar and recorded the vehicle traveling at 72 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. Pollard then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for speeding.
When Officer Pollard made contact with the driver, identified as Natosha Guthrie, he introduced himself and stated the reason for the stop. During this encounter, he noticed a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle. After gathering all the necessary information, Officer Pollard requested another unit for assistance.
When Officers Steve Potter and Jason Bristow arrived, Bristow made contact with Guthrie, where he also noticed the strong odor. Bristow then asked the driver if she would mind running some tests to make sure she was fit to drive, and she complied.
During the field sobriety test, Guthrie exhibited numerous signs of impairment. Officer Pollard then handcuffed Guthrie, placed her in the back seat of his patrol car, and then transported her to the Lawrence County Detention Center, where she refused to provide a breath sample.
Guthrie is accused of:
- Refusal to undergo a chemical test
- DWI
- Possession of an open container
- Speeding
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
