In connection with a communal assault to the detriment of a 26-year-old man, the Trier police station is asking for help and to report any information from witnesses. Yesterday, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at around 7:40 p.m., a group of four young people, or presumably young adults, were on Simeonstiftplatz. There they took chairs and a table from the local restaurant to sit down.
Since the outside area of the restaurant was closed at this time and the same behavior had apparently already occurred several times, an employee of the restaurant spoke to the group and ordered them to leave. When he tried to put the furniture back in its place, the employee was suddenly hit in the face with a fist from the group.
The victim then wanted to alert the police, whereupon the cell phone was knocked out of his hand and the device was destroyed. The attackers then wrestled the man to the ground, where they injured him with several punches and kicks to the head and body. The group then probably fled towards Franz-Ludwig-Straße.
The PI Trier has started an investigation into dangerous bodily harm against unknown persons and is asking for possible witness information. The attackers were estimated to be between 16 and 24 years old and between 165 and 175 cm tall. All dressed in dark clothing and wearing hats and a hood. They are also said to have been Arab-looking people.
Witnesses who observed the crime or who can provide information about the group of attackers and their direction of escape are asked to contact the PI Trier station on the new number 0651-983/44150.
