Apple Vision Pro is innovation of the year
Apple's Vision Pro headset came in first in Popular Science magazine's unexpected list of the 50 Greatest Innovations, which celebrates revolutionary achievements in science and technology.
The headset represents a pivotal moment in AR innovation, according to the magazine, offering a glimpse into the future of immersive computing. A 23 million pixel display system is integrated into the Vision Pro, which realizes 4K resolution for each eye.
The external cameras record a live feed of the user's surroundings, blending the digital and real worlds in real time. Classic controllers or physical buttons are not installed, as Vision Pro is operated with hand gestures, voice commands and eyes.
Potential recognized
Popular Science acknowledged some of the headset's hurdles, such as its $3,500 price tag, while still emphasizing its potential to drive future innovation in the AR space.
According to the magazine, the next version of the Vision Pro hardware will dispense with the scary image of the eyes that appears on the external display.
In addition to the Vision Pro, the Oura Ring 4, the Boox Palma E-Ink smartphone, the LG Signature OLED T TV and the Sony A9 III mirrorless camera were also recognized.
