With a 104:114 at the Miami Heat, the Toronto Raptors suffered their fourth defeat en suite in the National Basketball Association (NBA) on Thursday (local time).
For the first time in the season, Jakob Pöltl was not part of the Canadians' starting lineup, but with 16 points he was still the second-best scorer. The statistics also showed four rebounds, two assists and one steal and one block each. The 29-year-old center from Vienna played for 27:06 minutes.
A good start is not enough for Toronto
The Raptors remain a welcome guest this season. The defeat in Miami was the twelfth in the 13th game abroad. Toronto started strong and was ahead 41:25 after three and a half minutes in the second quarter. But then the thread broke.
Tyler Herro (23 points), Bam Adebayo (21 points, 16 rebounds) and colleagues held back the lead before the break and didn't relinquish it afterwards. Gradey Dick was the Raptors' leading scorer. The shooting guard scored 22 points. Toronto hosts the Chicago Bulls on Monday.
Boston celebrates its 20th win of the season
The Boston Celtics celebrated their 20th win of the season with a 123:99 win against the Detroit Pistons. The reigning NBA champions were led by Payton Pritchard with 27 points. Derrick White, Pöltl's former teammate at the San Antonio Spurs, was responsible for 23 points.
