AVM surprises with an update: Instead of Fritz!OS 8.0, these 2 boxes now receive this version

• AVM continues the distribution of Fritz!OS 8. However, an improved version with the number 8.01 is now being distributed.
• This was the first model to receive the FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable.
• Now the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro is also receiving the update.

In September, the Berlin company AVM started the rollout of Fritz!OS 8.0 for its popular Fritz!Box router. The update includes around 60 new features for the manufacturer. These include, for example, the online monitor with which you can monitor the load on your network and compare the data traffic of the individual devices in the network.

But apparently AVM was not yet satisfied with the new version of Fritz!OS, because the company has now distributed another update. This has the version number 8.01. It is initially only available for download for the FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable, but is now also available for the Fritz!Box 5690 Pro, as AVM announced on X (formerly Twitter).

Fritz!OS 8.0.1 reaches the first models

AVM does not provide any information about what changes were made compared to version 8.0. The changelog, because the manufacturer publishes generally on Fritz!OS 8.0 and not specifically on the 8.0.1 update. As a rule, however, a change in the version number in the third place indicates smaller improvements – such as bug fixes.

While the FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable and the Fritz!Box 5690 Pro have already received the update, new preliminary versions of updates are available for download for other models in the so-called Fritz!Labor. Among other things, the Fritz!Box 6850 5G and Fritz!Box 6850 LTE are likely to receive the big Fritz!OS 8 update shortly.
