Heilbronn/Ludwigshafen (dpa) – While their victims were at funeral services, a pair of thieves are said to have broken into their apartments and started stealing. The 45-year-old and his 44-year-old partner were in Ludwigshafen (Rhineland-Palatinate) arrested, the police said. During the search of her place of residence, extensive evidence and suspected stolen property were found and seized.
The couple is currently accused of at least seven crimes – four completed and three attempted. Three crime scenes are in Baden-Württemberg, the others in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse.
“This case impressively shows that the perpetrators will stop at nothing to create a favorable opportunity for crime,” said the deputy head of the Heilbronn Criminal Investigation Department, Martin Fessner, according to the statement. A judge issued arrest warrants for the couple. The two suspects are now in custody in different prisons.
