The prequel “Dexter: Original Sin” opens today on Paramount+ worldwide. It shows Dexter's first steps as a killer and his beginnings with the Miami Metro Police.
Dexter: Original Sin, the hotly anticipated prequel to the cult series Dexter, is celebrating its global premiere this Friday, December 13th wherever the streaming service Paramount+ or Showtime is available – for example in the USA and Germany. Ten episodes were filmed.

The “Dexter” prequel will celebrate its TV premiere in the USA on Sunday, December 15th on the traditional cable channel Showtime, which is now also known there as “Paramount+ with Showtime”.

The waiting time was shortened by the first trailer for the series “Dexter: Original Sin”. In it we see young Dexter, played this time by Shadow and Bone star Patrick Gibson. In the voice-over we also hear the voice of the original actor Michael C. Hall, who says: “I am a killer, but I wasn't born that way.” I was made (so) – through my story, through the people around me around. They say it takes a village to raise a killer…”
The series takes place almost 15 years before the original series and revolves around Dexter's early days as a killer. The official premise states: “When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness.” Under his father's guidance, Harry adopts a code designed to help him find and kill people kill those who deserve to leave society without being targeted by law enforcement. This presents a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensic internship with the Miami Metro Police Department.”
Behind the scenes, Clyde Phillips is in creative command, having already started as showrunner for the first four seasons of the original series in the late 2000s. In addition to Gibson as the main character Dexter, the actors in front of the camera include Molly Brown (Billions) as his sister Debra and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) as his adoptive father Harry.

All eight original seasons of the series “Dexter” (which aired from 2006 to 2013) can currently be viewed in this country on Netflix, RTL+ and also Paramount+. The revival series “Dexter: New Blood,” which aired in 2021, is currently only available on Paramount+.
