Scandal professional is thrown out after refusing to work

The teammates are stunned, the coach announces consequences: With his refusal to go on the field, De'Vondre Campbell has made himself impossible for the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL professional has no future with the California franchise.

Football professional De'Vondre Campbell from the San Francisco 49ers has to face the consequences after refusing to play in the NFL game against the Los Angeles Rams. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said after the 6:12 defeat against the Rams that the football professional would no longer play for the 49ers in the future.

The 31-year-old linebacker was supposed to come on the field in the third quarter for the injured Dre Greenlaw, but nothing came of it. “He said he didn’t want to play today,” Shanahan explained after the party. He emphasized that he had never experienced anything like this in his coaching career. In the fourth quarter, according to ESPN, Campbell even left the field and made his way to the locker room with a towel over his head.

Campbell signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers before this season and started 12 of the first 13 games.

Shanahan said Campbell will not be a part of the team for the final three weeks of the season. Under the collective bargaining agreement, NFL teams have the option to suspend players for up to four games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team. The 49ers could also simply cut Campbell from the roster entirely, allowing him to potentially be signed or signed by another team. “We’ll think about something,” Shanahan said.

Campbell also caused incomprehension among his teammates. “I think it was a selfish action. He definitely hurt the team,” said cornerback Charvarius Ward. Tight end George Kittle was stunned by his teammate's action: “I've never played with someone who did something like that – and I hope I never play with someone who does something like that again.” He described the refusal as “just stupid and immature”.
