Bangkok (dpa) – According to media reports, at least three people were killed and 48 others injured in an explosion at a festival in western Thailand. A police spokesman said a grenade was thrown into the crowd near a dance stage, according to reports. Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were arrested as suspects.
The investigators assumed there was a dispute between rival groups, reported the Bangkok Post. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. (local time) in Tak province, near the Southeast Asian country's border with Myanmar.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed her condolences to the victims' families on the X platform. They have ordered the police and security authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
