Chemnitz – Brutal attack on the Chemnitz Sonnenberg yesterday Thursday! A 44-year-old was knocked down with wooden sticks and had a stone thrown at him. He was taken to hospital seriously injured.
According to police, a loud argument broke out between two men on Tchaikovsky Street, near the Netto market, around 5:10 p.m.
Suddenly the situation escalated: three of the men kicked and hit a 44-year-old from Latvia with wooden sticks. The man fell to the ground.
“As the incident continued, one of the perpetrators threw a heavy stone at the victim,” reports a police spokeswoman. The beating gang then fled.
Greedy thieves got caught twice
Rescue workers quickly arrived and treated the seriously injured man. The police then started looking for the perpetrators.
The officers were able to catch one of the suspected thugs on Sonnenstrasse. It is a 24-year-old Slovakian. The other two attackers are still on the run.

The background to the brutal attacks is still unclear. However, there is a first clue: Yesterday, Thursday morning, the 44-year-old is said to have attacked a young person (16). “Whether the two acts are related is the subject of the investigation,” said the police.
