Man injured in shooting near Superdome, NOPD says | Crime/Police

According to the New Orleans Police Department, a man was injured in a shooting in the 700 block of Lasalle Street just after 11 p.m. Friday.

Officers in the area heard the gunshots, found the man with a gunshot wound and rendered aid before paramedics took him to the hospital, the NOPD said.

Officers arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting, the NOPD said.

It was a busy evening in the area Friday, with the unselected Division II football state championship between Cecilia and Franklinton at Caesars Superdome and a concert by rapper and trap-soul artist Rod Wave at the Smoothie King Center.

Crowds of people waited after midnight where police had set up barriers at the intersection of Girod Street and Lasalle, just behind Champions Square, unable to get to their cars parked in the nearby garage, according to videos on social media.
