Chicago 1929, Al Capone returns to his favorite club “Green Mill” in Chicago after his first prison stay. A “speakeasy” because Prohibition reigns throughout America, which opened up an immense new business area for organized crime. Capone also owns numerous brothels, countless betting shops, casinos and has Chicago firmly under control with his gangs. Bribing the police and city administration, cruelly eliminating opponents, he is an ice-cold, cheap and yet strictly Catholic, caring family man, a colorful personality. How did this young immigrant son of Italian parents from one of New York's poorest neighborhoods rise to the top of organized crime and become one of the richest and most influential men in America? This revue gets to the bottom of this, partly documentary, partly fictional, with exciting and hilarious scenes, enriched with slapstick in the style of old silent films, accompanied by a live band. There are high-speed car chases, fast-paced Charleston, brutal gangsters, lovely prostitutes and then there is mom – Theresina Capone, who gave birth to her Alphonse in Brooklyn in 1899. Is she perhaps the real boss? Here the ensemble of the Theater Rote Bühne shows once again how jazz music, dance, acting and comedy combine to create one of the most entertaining revues this city has to offer.
