The Chancellor will ask the historic vote of confidence in Parliament on Monday. The first broadcasts the crucial meeting in a special broadcast.

Berlin – The traffic light coalition is history, now Olaf Scholz is taking the next step. On Monday, December 16th, the Chancellor will ask the Bundestag for a vote of confidence. This step is intended to pave the way for new elections in February 2025. The public broadcaster is reacting to the historic moment with a live broadcast.

Scholz asks the question of trust: ARD broadcasts live from the Bundestag

Das Erste is adapting its regular program and broadcasting the Bundestag session live on Monday from 12:55 p.m. in a special broadcast. Markus Preiß, head of the ARD capital studio, will host the program and classify the political developments for the viewers.

On his side, political scientist Andrea Römmele will analyze what is happening. The special program “Bundestag live: The question of trust – the path to new elections” promises comprehensive coverage of the parliamentary process.

The ARD team will report directly from the western lobby of the Bundestag and conduct political interviews there. For people with hearing impairments, the broadcast on ARD Teletext is subtitled live on page 150 (read more political news on RUHR24).

Question of confidence in the Bundestag: Chancellor Scholz will allow new elections

The outcome of the vote of confidence is already considered sealed. While the SPD parliamentary group wants to express their confidence in their Chancellor, the Greens have already announced their abstention.
