Twitch has released its 2024 recap. On the one hand, every user of the platform can watch their personal recap directly on twitch.tv. In addition, 1,000 members of the Twitch community were able to vote for their personal highlights in the community recap. The results can now be found on the web, but I will also briefly summarize them for you.
The most streamed categories this year include Grand Theft Auto V (Global), Just Chatting (North America), Valorant (APAC), Special Events (EMEA) and Sports (LATAM). In total, 20 billion hours were watched, more than 879 million hours streamed, and 9.51 million new streamers were registered on Amazon's live streaming platform during 2024.
The “chill” tag has been used more than any other on Twitch this year. The community watched 100.6 million hours of ASMR and cozy games like Stardew Valley were watched for 23.6 million hours. Apparently there was a high feeling of stress among many viewers, which needed to be compensated for.
