The second season of the series “Vigil” is brought to Germany by Arte. Immediately after the turn of the year, the topic of “deadly drones” takes center stage.

On Thursday, January 2nd, the second season of the British series Vigil celebrates its German premiere in the arte media library online. It will be available there until April 1, 2025. You can see it on free TV from Thursday, January 9th from 9:45 p.m. on arte. Six new episodes have been produced, promising a military thriller set in the Air Force milieu.

DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) enter the world of drone warfare to catch a murderer after previously unexplained deaths occur at a Scottish military installation. Gary Lewis can be seen again as DS Robertson alongside the two leading actresses. Brand new to the cast are Romola Garai (Becoming Elizabeth, The Hour), Dougray Scott (Crime, “Enigma”), Amir El-Masry (“Limbo”), David Elliot (The Liberator, Bulletproof), Chris Jenks (Sex Education, “Karen Pirie”), Tommy Sim'aan, Oscar Salem (House of the Dragon, Des), Jonathan Ajayi (Noughts + Crosses) and newcomer Hiba Medina.

Series creator Tom Edge wrote the new episodes alongside Maryam Hamidi, James Smythe, Ryan O'Sullivan and Matilda Wnek. Andy De Emmony (The Last Kingdom) and Joss Agnew (Outlander) are the directors of the season, which is directed by World productions and the ITV Studios is produced.
The first season of the series took place on board a nuclear submarine and was a great success for the BBC. “Vigil” was the most successful UK drama series since Bodyguard (2018) and even earned the broadcaster an International Emmy Award for best format. The first season with the additional title “Death on the High Seas” was also shown in Germany. This time, season two has the subtitle “Deadly Drones”.
