According to its leader Naim Kassim, the Lebanese terrorist militia Hezbollah has lost its supply route for weapons due to the overthrow of the Syrian government. “Hezbollah has lost the military supply route,” Kassim said in a televised speech. But that is just “a small detail” in the ongoing fight against Israel. The militia is “flexible” and “continuity” is important.
Iran was previously Hezbollah's most important supporter and supplied the heavily armed militia with weapons, among other things, overland through Syria. The overthrow of ruler Bashar al-Assad in Syria, who was also allied with Tehran, is therefore a serious setback for Iran in the fight against its declared arch-enemy Israel.
Apparently with a view to the rebel alliance in Syria led by Islamists, Kassim said: “We hope that the new rule in Syria will view Israel as an enemy and will not normalize relations with it.” But no judgment will be made about the group before it have taken clear positions.
