San Francisco (dpa) – Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder immediately runs alongside NBA superstar Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors with Curry officially announced the transfer of the 31-year-old playmaker from the Brooklyn Nets. The US broadcaster ESPN had previously reported on the next transfer.
In a so-called trade, Schröder will be swapped for De'Anthony Melton, among others, and will now play on the West coast instead of the current East Coast.

For Schröder, this is the eighth different stop in the North American professional league after Atlanta, Oklahoma City, the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston, Houston, Toronto and Brooklyn. The Braunschweig native, who has had a strong season so far, has been one of the Nets' leading players in recent weeks and, according to his own statements, surprised himself with the New York team.
Return to the role as a bench player?
Schröder is likely to play a somewhat smaller role in terms of sport for the seven-time champions from San Francisco. But the national team captain has better prospects of sporting success with the team. There are still two key players from the previous championship years in three-point specialist Curry and all-rounder Draymond Green.
Schröder could start alongside Curry or return to his role as a valuable bench player with a lot of play. It was only in the summer that Klay Thompson, who served as Curry's partner for years, left the club for the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors are on course for the playoffs after the first third of the season.
