The all-clear after another suitcase alarm at the Cologne Christmas market: That was possible!

Cologne – It's in there again Cologne Alarm sounded at a Christmas market: For the second time this weekend, a suspicious and abandoned suitcase was found – this time at the Heumarkt.

As the Cologne police confirmed in response to TAG24's request, the alarm was triggered at around 7:30 p.m.

The entire Heumarkt, including the Christmas market there and the streets and squares adjacent to it, were evacuated and closed by 8 p.m.

A defusing team from the LKA Düsseldorf was on site to also examine this suitcase. The all-clear was given around 10 p.m.: In the luggage – as on Saturday at Rudolfplatz – there was only sand in bags.

It is completely unclear who left this or possibly the other suitcase at the markets on Saturday.

The investigation into the background has begun. The evacuated Christmas market at Heumarkt was no longer open on Sunday evening.
