In the dark season we all dream of summer. Time to plan your vacation for 2025. We'll show you the travel trends for the coming year.
The travel trends for summer 2025
Tamara Land from the SWR1 business editorial team knows: “Most German vacationers are drawn to the sun, the beach and the sea in summer. Not much will change in 2025. The top destinations for the coming year are probably Turkey, Spain and Greece again.
However, the prices there are very high. That's why a small trend towards the Balkans had recently emerged. Albania and Montenegro, for example, turned out to be trend destinations. Since the tourist infrastructure there is not yet very well developed, Tamara Land does not assume that these countries will replace well-known holiday destinations such as Mallorca.
Holidays, holidays and free time
Bridge Days 2025 in Rhineland-Palatinate: The best dates for your vacation
Already planned your vacation for 2025? Now it's time to be clever. Anyone who cleverly uses bridge days and public holidays in Rhineland-Palatinate gets a lot of free time out of their vacation days.
The situation is similar with the second supposed trend, the “cool location”, i.e. vacationing in cooler places to escape the increasing heat waves. However, this is unlikely to become a mass phenomenon, as trips to the Scandinavian countries are relatively expensive.
Will vacations be more expensive in 2025?
If you want to take a plane trip, it will definitely be more expensive. The world's largest travel group TUI has just given an outlook for 2025 and speaks of average price increases of three percent.
Prices have already risen sharply in recent years. For various reasons such as a lack of staff and costs due to comparatively high taxes and fees in Germany, travelers have to be prepared for higher flight prices.
Would you rather book early or last minute?
Booking early might be a better option for most people. Especially for families with children who are tied to the holidays. Even if you already know exactly where you want to go, it's best to plan your trip well in advance when there's still a lot to choose from.
According to Tamara Land, booking last minute is well suited for flexible holidaymakers who can travel outside of the holiday season. If you also have to accept a longer journey time to the airport and are not committed to a specific destination, you can also take a snap at short notice. As a rule, trips become more expensive the shorter you book them.
