Governor Phil Murphy's emphatic representation of New Jersey at the Democratic National Convention last week became a viral moment for the two-term governor.

With Bruce Springsteen's “Born in the USA” beat in the background, Murphy exclaimed, “We're from Jersey, baby… and you're not!” – while also campaigning for the state's delegates to support Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate.

The audio has been used over 1,200 times on TikTok for videos on everything from bagels to Bruce and Wawa to The Shore.

“That was the most typical thing a Jerseyan could say!!,” one commented on social media

“They say, 'Love yourself like Jersey people love being Jersey,'” posted another

While most TikTokers used the audio to boast about their Jersey pride, others pointed out that Murphy isn't even from New Jersey—he was born in Boston.

Country news: NJ is considered one of the most expensive states to live in

“The irony is this man IS NOT FROM NJ!!!” one posted on TikTok. “I guess we adopted him.”

Others made jokes at Jersey's expense on social media.

“We're from Jersey baby and we're being overtaxed to death,” one person commented.

“I’m from Jersey too and the best thing I can do there is leave!” posted another.

“You really want to go viral? Then lower the rent,” wrote another.
