Experience the world in the cinema

Red velvet bowl. The huge screen in the quiet cinema hall. A film gets the big stage. Cinema is great entertainment! But not only – it is a place of encounter, a place of longing, inspiration and enriches the cultural life of the city. A volunteer working group from the Kulturforum Isny ​​e. V. organizes a spring and an autumn relay every year with a lot of passion and commitment, as it says in a statement.

The carefully selected works run on the second Tuesday of each month and the additional regular program of the New Ringtheater Isny. Comedies, dramas, documentaries or children's films – the working group addresses socio-political issues and continually seeks collaboration with local schools, initiatives and associations to design the program. The personal greeting, a short introduction to the film, the exchange with other film lovers, but also fine wine and nibbles round off the experience and make the cinema evening a truly “film-worthy” evening

On Tuesday, January 14th, at 8 p.m. it's called “When it gets dark and cold in Berlin” by director Charly Hübner in his documentary “Elements of Crime”

The arthouse cinema series will be showing on February 11th “The Quiet Girl” – the first Irish language film to be nominated for an Oscar. A gentle and deeply hopeful tale of people trying to leave pain and loneliness behind.

In March the feature film is observed “What’s normal?” Paulo and his father flee from the police after a robbery and, of all things, find shelter in a tour bus that is supposed to take young adults with disabilities to their vacation spot in the mountains. Paulo and his father briefly pretend to be the missing fellow traveler Sylvain and his carer – a quick, perfect disguise. A stirring, humorous story about friendship and tolerance.

The Isny ​​Literature Days 2025 will run in April. filmreif will be there and will show two films as a “Literature Days Special”. One for adults, one for children. On April 8th “Confessions of the impostor Thomas Mann” the life paths of Thomas Mann and the character Felix Krull he created. A kaleidoscope of original quotes and fictional scenes that, with subtle irony, become a cinematic homage to the person behind the myth of Thomas Mann. I am a child specialist “Stay on the ball no matter what happens” Dutch director Camiel Schouwenaar accompanies two football-loving friends on April 13th and tells a wonderful, warm-hearted friendship story full of optimism – and great football matches!

The film concludes the 2025 spring season on May 13th “Gagarin – once weightless and back”in which 16-year-old Youri takes away his dreams and refuses to let his home be taken away from him in an aging high-rise complex in a suburb of Paris. The film shows the people and their individual stories, willingness to help, shared activities and children playing – a world beyond clichés of poverty.
