Remedy Entertainment has released an update to Alan Wake 2 so that PSSR can be deactivated again on the PlayStation 5 Pro.
After the Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro update, there were numerous complaints from players that the game no longer achieved the graphical quality of the PlayStation 5. The fact that the source material only runs at 864p also negatively surprised many PlayStation 5 Pro buyers.
Now Remedy has sat down again and released an update for Alan Wake 2 so that players can disable PSSR mode. There is also a “Blanaced” mode at 120 Hz if your display supports it. The full patch notes can be found here:
PlayStation 5 (1,200,007)
Xbox Series (1.2.0.7)
PC (1.2.7)
Improvements and additions
- [PS5 Pro] Added a new graphics mode “Balanced”. This mode requires compatible displays that can achieve a 120Hz refresh rate. Balanced mode combines the PS5 Pro quality mode settings, including ray tracing, with the resolution of performance mode. This mode targets 40 fps.
- [PS5 Pro] Performance mode visual settings have been adjusted slightly to achieve a more consistent frame rate.
- [PS5 Pro] Quality and Balanced Mode: Ray tracing settings have been adjusted to produce a less noisy image.
- [PS5 Pro] Added an option to toggle PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) on/off.
corrections
- [The Lake House] Fixed a bug that caused Manuscript Collectibles to display the wrong page in Saga's Mind Place.
- [The Lake House] Fixed missing sound in the “Welcome to the Lake House” video collectible.
- Minor fixes and optimizations.
The developers of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora have previously released an update so that PS5 Pro players can deactivate the PSSR features again.
