Publisher Microids and Microids Studio Lyon have Agatha Christie – Death on the Nile announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC. Publication is planned for 2025 and promises to give one of the most famous stories in crime literature a new shine.
After the success of Murder on the Orient Express (our review), the development team is building on the positive feedback from players. “We have increased the difficulty, made the puzzles more complex and created more freedom in the investigation.” explains David Chomard, CEO of Microids Studio Lyon. The connection between the stories of Hercule Poirot and the new detective Jane Royce is also brought into greater focus.
A new chapter for Hercule Poirot and Jane Royce
The action begins on a seemingly idyllic Nile cruise, which is abruptly interrupted by a gruesome crime. While Hercule Poirot investigates on board, Jane Royce pursues a murderer across the globe – from London to Mallorca to Egypt. The two tracks finally intersect in Abu Simbel, where a thrilling finale awaits the players.
But the developers go beyond the original template. Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile expands Agatha Christie's work with a completely new investigation that will surprise even those who know the novel. The story is set in the 1970s and captures the spirit of that turbulent decade – marked by disco vibes, feminist movements and cultural upheavals.
