Given the high price of the original, many are looking for a cheaper alternative – but which cordless vacuum cleaner is comparable to Dyson's high-end products? Find out here.
Are you looking for a cordless vacuum cleaner that works just as cordlessly as a Dyson alternative, provides constant high suction power and works without a bag, but doesn't cost as much as the original? Then it's worth taking a look at some other well-known vacuum cleaner manufacturers. Because even if the proven technology is missing, cheaper devices can perform just as well or even better.
Dyson on offer:
There are currently some models from Dyson on offer. Among them is the Dyson V11 Absolute*, which has a battery life of up to 60 minutes and comes with a battery with interchangeable function. Equipped with a combination and crevice nozzle, you can optimally clean hard-to-reach areas.
The Dyson V15 Detect Absolut (2023)* enables wireless cleaning for up to 60 minutes including a battery with interchangeable function. The aligned, precise beam of light makes even the smallest dust particles visible and thus enables deep cleaning of your small hard floors. Thanks to the built-in LCD display, you always have an overview of the system performance data measured in real time. The floor nozzle is equipped with dust detection technology and automatically carries out the various cleaning tasks.

Dyson V11 Alternative: The battery performance
Stiftung Warentest named the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra* the best cordless vacuum cleaner in its February 2021 issue – “The Dyson is the only one in the test that vacuums very well,” the company also mentions on its website.
The SHARK IW3611EU Detect Pro stick vacuum cleaner* was not taken into account in the test. A self-cleaning 2 liter container is attached to the base station. The complete anti-allergen seal captures up to 99.9% of dust, allergens and irritants.
However, both vacuum cleaners are no match when it comes to battery performance, as usage time seems to be a general problem with cordless models. After all, the Shark device automatically recognizes the surface and adjusts the suction behavior. Another advantage: the Shark cordless vacuum cleaner only weighs 2.78 kilograms. For comparison: The Dyson V11 Absolute Extra weighs three kilograms.
Tip: The weight is particularly noticeable when carrying it on the stairs or when vacuuming cobwebs and should therefore not be ignored when purchasing.
The DCL180ZB from Makita* is also good for stairs, workshops and vacuuming upholstered furniture. In terms of battery life of around 20 minutes, it is left behind by the test winner, but it scores points with its versatility. Because the Makita vacuum cleaner, like the two models mentioned above, can be converted into a practical handheld vacuum cleaner. With a purchase price of just under 50 euros, this is a good compromise. But be careful: The Makita tool battery* must be ordered separately and costs between 30 and 80 euros – alternatively, you can also use batteries from existing Makita tools.
Alternative to Dyson: AEG cordless vacuum cleaners can do that
The Dyson V15* is the latest cordless vacuum cleaner from Dyson. However, the price is quite considerable. That's why many potential buyers also look to brands like AEG for a cheaper Dyson alternative.
The AEG CLEAN ÖKO 6000* cordless vacuum cleaner enables effortless cleanliness. At just 79 dB(A), it is pleasantly quiet and can be used flexibly thanks to the 2-in-1 function with a removable handheld vacuum cleaner. The 5-stage filtration, in addition to the replaceable multi-floor brush with LED light and BrushRollClean function, impresses in terms of performance. This cordless vacuum cleaner has a running time of up to 55 minutes. At 4.17 kilograms, the AEG model is significantly heavier than the Dyson V15*, but is made from 47% recycled plastic. The patented Brushroll Clean function ensures automatic deep cleaning of the brushroll at the push of a pedal.
If you want to invest a little more, you can also choose the elegant AEG QX6-1-45AN*. This model can also be easily converted into a handheld vacuum cleaner and therefore offers a wide range of applications. The battery life is up to 45 minutes. The vacuum is extremely quiet and has a pet hair nozzle, brush cleaning function and LED lights on the brush so you can see under cabinets whether all dirt has been removed.
Dyson alternative: Bosch Unlimited series
The Bosch Unlimited 6* is a cordless vacuum cleaner with high flexibility. The removable handle means it can also be used as a handheld vacuum cleaner. It has a battery life of 30 minutes and the empty battery can be easily replaced using the click system under the handle.
Dyson alternative: Rowenta X-Force Flex
The Rowenta X-Force Flex* is ideal for all types of surfaces. With its innovative Flex technology, it offers unique freedom of movement and flexibility, making it possible to clean even hard-to-reach areas effortlessly. The battery life is 45 minutes. It comes with a crevice nozzle, an upholstery nozzle and a pet hair nozzle.
Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner alternative: models from Miele
If you prefer a Miele cordless vacuum cleaner, we recommend the Miele Duoflex HX1*: It vacuums without a cable and without a bag.
