Thanks to the support of committed partners and the minimaxi family center, this city's affair of the heart remains an integral part of the Advent season, according to a press release from the city administration.
On Monday, December 16th, it was that time again: 16 children between the ages of two and 14, accompanied by their parents, came to the minimaxi family center to receive gifts in an atmospheric atmosphere. The families were nominated by the Family Center team, who are very committed to the organization every year.
The children are happy to receive small gifts and shoe vouchers from the neighborhood charity. This year the event was once again supported by the Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee, the neighborhood help group and the entire team at the minimaxi family center. The celebration was musically accompanied by flute students and the Lindau Music School under the direction of Christian Rudolf, who created a festive atmosphere with Christmas carols.
“Even if Christmas isn’t primarily about presents, it’s nice to see how much joy we can give the children,” said Mayor Claudia Alfons. Together with Rainer Hartmann, regional director of Sparkasse Lindau-Westallgäu, she led the gift distribution. A special thank you goes to the mayor of the minimaxi family center, which supports the children and their families all year round. “Without the commitment of the entire team, this event would not be possible in such an atmospheric and family atmosphere.”
The children's gift giving has a long and special history: It was started by the crew of the city of Lindau's sponsor ship at the time, the mine hunting boat Lindau. The crew collected money to donate to Lindau children before Christmas. Even after the ship was decommissioned in 2000, the tradition was continued, first by the International Police Association (IPA) Lindau and later by the Sparkasse and the Dreher car dealership.
